Tire Defect Attorney Settles Suit Against Bridgestone and Ford in Rollover Crash

The Ammons Law Firm has successfully negotiated the settlement of a product liability case against Bridgestone and Ford on behalf of a 36-year-old Louisiana woman who was seriously injured in a rollover. The accident occurred when a Ford Explorer’s right rear Wilderness AT tire suffered a tread separation. The tire disablement sent the vehicle off a roadway and caused it to roll over.

At defendant’s insistence, the amount of the settlement is confidential.

In her lawsuit, the Plaintiff alleged that Wilderness AT tire was defectively designed and manufactured by Bridgestone such that it was not durable. Ammons also alleged that Bridgestone failed to warn of the tire’s defects and about the risks associated with using an old tire, despite adequate tread depth. The lawsuit cites the tire’s advanced age, which was in excess of 12 years, as a factor contributing to the failure that resulted in the crash.

With respect to Ford, Ammons alleged that the carmaker was heavily involved in the development of the defective Wilderness AT which it then chose as original equipment for its Explorer line of vehicles. Ammons also alleged that Ford knew a rear tire disablement on an Explorer would cause drastic changes in how the vehicle handled, leading to loss of directional control, but did nothing to remedy or warn of the problem.

The Ammons Law Firm is located in Houston, Texas and practices personal injury law, including cases involving: tire defects, oil rig explosions, truck accidents, plant explosions, refinery accidents, wrongful death, post-collision fires, seat belt defects, seatback defects, air bag defects, SUV rollovers and workplace negligence.
