Fiery Crash Prompts Suit Against General Motors - Ammons Law

Fiery Crash Prompts Suit Against General Motors

On behalf of the mother of a badly burned child and the surviving family members of a man burned to death when the SUV they occupied burst into flames, Rob Ammons has filed suit against GM. The lawsuit blames defects in a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer for the injuries and death.

While traveling on a wet Mexican road, the Trailblazer’s tires lost traction. It left the main lanes, rolled over and burst into flames which engulfed the entire vehicle. While the child suffered 3rd degree burns over 60% of her body, responders were able to rescue her from the fire. The man, however, had perished by the time responders reached him.

In the lawsuit, Rob Ammons asserts that motor vehicles must be crashworthy if risk of injury is to be minimized, and preventing fuel fed fires is a basic crashworthiness principle. Ammons claims that the fuel system of the Trailblazer was defective because it is dangerously susceptible to post collision fuel fed fires.

The Ammons Law Firm has a nationwide personal injury practice focusing on tire defects, truck accidents, rollovers, consumer protection and product liability, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, post-collision fires, seat belt defects, air bag defects and plant explosions.
