Rob Ammons Settles Suit Against Cooper Tire Following Fatal California Tread Separation Crash

The Ammons Law Firm has successfully concluded a wrongful death case against Cooper Tire on behalf of the husband and children of a 47-year-old Los Angeles woman killed in a rollover crash. The woman was a passenger in an SUV on which the right rear tire’s tread separated from its carcass. The driver was unable to control the vehicle with the disabled tire, and the SUV left the roadway and rolled over. The woman sustained severe head injuries and died at the scene.

According to the lawsuit, the tire that failed was a Dominator Sport A/T designed and manufactured by Cooper Tire & Rubber Company in its Arkansas plant. Rob Ammons alleged that proper adhesion of the tire’s internal components was not achieved during its manufacture and that Cooper also failed to design the tire with reinforcement features proven to reduce the risk of it peeling apart while traveling down the highway. Ammons also alleged that the rubber compound utilized by Cooper to build the tire possibly contained contaminants and was not fortified with the chemicals necessary to prevent premature aging and degradation of the tire.

The Ammons Law Firm handles cases nationwide, including those involving tire defects, oil rig explosions, truck accidents, plant explosions, refinery accidents, wrongful death, post-collision fires, seat belt defects, seat back defects, air bag defects, SUV rollovers and workplace negligence.
